The new Women's Library has been built, appropriately enough, on the site of a 19th century wash house in the Whitechapel area of East London.
The event was celebrated with an edition of Women's Hour on the subject of women's suffrage.
Jenni was joined by a panel of suffrage experts - and by the actor Fiona Shaw who spoke the words of the women themselves.
