When Sheila Aldcroft was 11 years old during the Second World War she was sent away from her parents home in Manchester.

When Sheila moved in with the Heaps family in the village of Samelsbury near Preston she developed an instant rapport with the daughter Joan who was the same age.
Sheila lived with the Heaps for two happy years until she was unexpectedly taken back home to Manchester. The girls then lost touch and for 60 years they could only wonder how each other's lives had panned out.
But this year they were reunited. They were put in touch with each other by We'll Meet Again - a 大象传媒 Local Radio campaign which has been helping old friends from the Second World War to trace each other.
Philippa Budgen managed to catch both Sheila and Joan just before they were reunited in a pub in Mellor near Blackburn.
