The lute is an instrument which enjoyed its heyday with the courtly players of the Renaissance and their songs of unrequited love.
Clara Sanabras is a lute player from Spain who has lived in this country since 1994. She tells Martha about famous lute players from the past, including one particular female lutenist who ended up as mistress of Charles II.
