Chatsworth House was built over 450 years ago and the same family - the Cavendishs - have lived there ever since.
Chatsworth is one of England's grandest and most visited great houses, boasting 17 stair cases, 21 offices, 32 kitchens and over an acre of lead covers its roof. It's also one of the best loved because it's a real family home.
At the end of the seventeenth century the family were made the Dukes of Devonshire and the present Duchess takes us on a personal tour of her home. She explains to Faith Lawrence why she prefers to calls herself a housewife.
