Facial Disfigurement Monday 10 June 2002
Teenagers are particularly self-conscious about their image. So how do young people cope with facial disfigurements?

The Centre for Appearance Research at the University of the West of England in Bristol has been given a grant by the US government to pioneer a new approach to patients with disfigurements. But for this research, it's the patients' view of themselves that counts and not the doctors'.
Jenni talks to Dr Nichola Rumsey, director of research at the Centre and to an 18-year-old girl who describes how her condition, which affects her chin, has influenced her teenage years.
