Picnics Monday 17 June 2002
The word 'picnic' originate in the eighteenth century and comes from the French 'pique-nique', meaning "a fashionable social entertainment".

Cookery expert Clare Ferguson's aims to continue this tradition. Her new book, Portable Feasts, provides ideas for everything from for romantic dinners for two to children's riverside treats.
She talks to Jenni about the history of the picnic and brings in a few picnic favourites
