Since last Monday, 150 women, armed only with cooking pots, have blockaded Chevron Texaco's main oil export facility in the Niger Delta trapping 700 employees. Their action has made it impossible for planes and helicopters to land or boats dock at the huge Escravos terminal.
The women are demanding jobs for their children. The company has airlifted ten of the women protesters off the terminal and taken them to the nearby town for negotiations to continue. This morning, the blockade was still in place and negotiations were continuing.
Martha talks to Evelyn Bassey, Executive Executive Director of the Committee on Vital Environmental Recources.
