Last week the Human Embryology and Fertilisation Authority announced a 'league table' for clinics offering treatment and showed that overall the number of successful pregancies has improved.
The chairman, Suzi Leather, was hopeful on this programme that it would lead to a reduction in the number of embryos which are implanted in women.
Some doctors are concerned that the publication of success rates will have the opposite effect. They're afraid that it will encourage multiple implantation as a way of improving results.
Professor Ian Craft is head of the London Fertility Centre and Professor Brian Lieberman is a consultant gynaecologist at St Mary's Hopsital Manchester and a member of the HFEA. They join Jenni to discuss.
