Earth Summit Saturday 7 September 2002
The Earth Summit which ended this week in Johannesburg has been branded a failure by green activists.

But was it perhaps a victory for women's rights? Campaigners certainly believe they have won a victory of sorts but getting there has been a very bumpy ride. The trouble all boiled down to just ten words linking access to healthcare with human rights.
Negotiations on the issue held up the entire summit proceedings and by late Tuesday night, campaigners were expecting the worse. Then just after midnight, the news came that delegates had decided to include the wording.
June Zeitlin of the Women's Environment and Development Organisation joined Martha to explain what the controversy is all about.
