Male Breast Cancer Tuesday 5 November 2002
The importance of routine check-ups and self-examination to spot early signs of breast cancer in women is well known. What is less well known is that this is a disease which affects men too.

There are approximately 200 to 300 men diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year. Now for the first time a leading breast cancer charity is funding research into the experience of the disease in men. Breast cancer is often perceived to be a woman's problem and ignored in men until it is too late.
Jenni talks to Mike Down, a male breast cancer patient, and to Pamela Goldberg, the Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Campaign.
The research is being conducted by the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff. Men wanting to take part in the research can contact the research team on 020 7749 3700
