The Bohemians were all about challenging the stuffy status quo of pre-war Britain ? be it in their art, clothes or relationships.
But were the likes of Vanessa Bell, Dora Carrington and Augustus John's wife Ida really the free spirits they proclaimed to be? Or was daily life for a Bohemian woman just as much a grind as that of their middle-class cousins?
