There's something about a loved one's handwriting that makes their letters precious, or extremely valuable if like James Hewitt, you happen to be in possession of a royal cache.

Whether you're looking at Princess Diana's script or the handwriting of a child, graphologists say you can tell a lot about a person from the way they dot their 'I's and cross their 't's.
Personality may play its part, but profound social changes have also influenced the evolution of women's handwriting, as Faith Lawrence discovered.
