"How very different from the home life of our own dear queen" - the famous remark of one Victorian after watching Cleopatra on stage. Family values were paramount in the courtly life of Victoria and Albert. After the scandalous lives of her uncles, George IV and William IV, Victoria set an austere precedent for the nation to follow.
But her children longed to rebel - and none more so than Princess Louise. The sixth child of Queen Victoria and sister of the future Edward VII, her life prospects looked rosy, until tragedy struck.
