Children Asylum Seekers Wednesday 21 May 2003
As the government prepares to issue figures on the number of asylum-seekers entering Britain, calls are mounting for an end to the practice of locking up refugee families with children.

MPs, charities and church leaders have branded the detention of children an abuse of their human rights. And some groups have met families who have been held for up to 160 days.
Angela Robson went to meet one girl whose family was held for several weeks by immigration authorities.
And Home Office Minister Beverley Hughes and Tim Baster from the refugee charity Bail for Immigration Detainees join Jenni to discuss this issue.
