Ìý Ruth Crawford Seeger Tuesday 24 June 2003 Ìý
From experimental to folk, the American composer Ruth Crawford Seeger embraced all sorts of music in her works. She was the first woman to receive a Guggenheim Fellowship in composition and her step children Pete and Peggy Seeger had their own successful careers in folk music.

Diana Ambache, pianist and musical director with the Ambache Chamber Orchestra who are currently performing a series of works by American Composers, Old Masters, New Mistresses told Claudia Hammond why Ruth Crawford Seeger's work was so innovative.
The UK premiere of Ruth Crawford Seeger's wind quintet will be performed by The Ambache Chamber Orchestra on the 27th Feb at The Ironmonger's Hall in London.
