75th Anniversary of Universal Franchise Monday 30 June 2003
75 years ago this week men and women for the first time had the same voting rights.

The campaign for universal suffrage was characterised by passion and commitment, but 75 years on, have we become indifferent to the political process? And why are many people, women in particular, choosing not to exercise their right to vote?
Shirley Williams, Baroness Williams of Crosby, and leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords, Conservative Councillor Fiona Buxton and Fran Abrams who has written about the suffrage movement join Jenni to discuss these issues.
