Last year the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich acquired 72 letters written by Frances, Lady Nelson, discovered in the attic of Alexander Davison, Nelson's friend and agent.
The woman who wrote the letters may never have whipped off her knickers to dance on the dining table as did her famous rival Emma Hamilton - but nor apparently was she the bitter old shrew that history has painted her as either.
Instead we read that she was desperate for her husband, Britain's greatest Naval hero, to return and continued to love him long after Emma was on the scene.
Dr. Margarette Lincoln, Director of Research and Collections at the National Maritime Museum joins Martha to tell her why we've never heard Frances Nelson's side of the story before.
