A third of women and one in twelve men over the age of 50 are expected to suffer with osteoporosis.
Now a new drug has been licensed which has been shown to partially reverse the condition, but it's only available to those with the severest form of the disease. At the same time a consultation document has been issued for the NHS on the best ways to treat osteoporosis.
Dr Jonathan Reeve, head of the Bone Research Group at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge and Jackie Parrington of the National Osteoporosis Society join Jenni to discuss the issues.
The National Osteoporosis Society are keen to hear your experiences. You can e-mail them at info@nos.org.uk
