A couple of weeks ago we were discussing poetry on the programme. A few days later we received a poem from one of our younger listeners.
She's Miranda Robbs de la Hoyde and she's 11. Using the Nativity as a starting point, Miranda came up with something rather more modern - The Three Wise Women....
If, when Jesus Christ was born, And on that very Christmas morn, Three wise women came to see The holy, sacred, heavenly three, Instead of bringing perfumed presents With their overpowering essence, They would give poor Mary help, And when the tiny baby smelt, They'd change the nappy, clean the bed, And if he didn't smell - instead They'd feed him, take him for a trundle And wrap him in his little bundle. The men just hung around and, when They'd finished giving gifts, they then Went back to their luxury lives And their pretty, caring wives, Left poor Mary standing there, With baby Jesus in her care.
