Afghan singer Saturday 17 January 2004
Forgiveness is a relatively rare commodity in Afghanistan where memories of atrocities carried out by the Taleban run deep.

A new constitution has been agreed which was supposed to curb the power of hard line Islamists. But the conservative dominated Supreme Court can still intervene, and it did just that this week, when Kabul TV showed a woman Afghan singer, Salma on screen.
The court said it was opposed to women singing and has banned any more appearances. Najiba Kasraee, a journalist with the 大象传媒 Afghan Service joins Martha to discuss.
