Is sex appeal the way to sell women's football? 12听Mar 2004
Recently Sepp Blatter, president of Fifa, football's governing body, outraged the footballing community with his suggestion that to ignite interest in their game female players should wear "tighter shorts".

And earlier this year the Football Association revealed its riposte: a key promotional tool for the women's game - a glossy booklet showing four glamorous players dolled up in evening dress and mini-skirts, under the legends 'Feminine', 'Glamorous' and 'Fun, fun, fun'.

As the women's semi-finals are due to be played this weekend, Martha is joined by Paula Cocozza, The Guardian's Women's Football Correspondent and Bev Ward, Marketing and Communications Manager for Women's Football at the FA to discuss whether this is just a canny way of promoting an undervalued sport, or an insult to serious athletes?
