The artist is best-known forÌýher huge spider at the opening of Tate Modern in London.

The 92-year-old near recluse uses carving, installation, castings, text and illustration in her work: needlecraft is her most recent exploration.

Bourgeois has rarely been interviewed and Zevi Whatmough's report includes part ofÌý a 1994 ArenaÌý interview with her.ÌýÌýZevi also talks to director of the Gallery, Fiona Bradley.Ìý

Stitches in Time is at the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh until 9 May
