Single women in India 29 Apr听2004
What is it like to be a single woman in India today?

An Indian beauty queen lost her crown after it was discovered that she was living 'in sin' with her boyfriend - a state of affairs generally regarded as degenerate in India .

Single women, in the main, are expected to live at home with their parents until they marry and move to the in-laws house. Sex and the single girl may have hit the West in the 1960s, but it has yet to hit India.

Claire Jenkins reports from Delhi.
