Could it be as effective for women to have just one embryo implanted?
New research out this week suggests it is.
In Britain most clinics routinely put back two embryos. But doctors in Sweden who unveiled their study at the European Fertility conference believe that IVF can be just as successful with one and that avoids the risk of multiple births.Ìý
Professor Christina Bergh of Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg is one of the research team. Martha asks her what the implications are for the way IVF is carried out inÌýBritain?
