Can Unicef UK's baby friendly initiative help more mothers to breastfeed?
Unicef UK says that mothers and babies in England do not get enough support for breastfeeding. They have released figures showing that听only 11%听of English hospitals have received baby friendly accreditation. This international standard applies only to hospitals which have proved that they welcome and promote successful breastfeeding. In contrast half the hospitals in Scotland and a third in Wales are deemed 'baby friendly'.
Andrew Radford, UK Director of the Baby Friendly Initiative and Professor Mary Renfrew听join Martha to discuss why England appears to have been left behind.
