Cooking rota 3听September 2004
Getting the family involved in making the meals

A few weeks ago we asked whether children were becoming听increasingly helpless. Are they incapable of even turning on the cooker let alone making anything decent to eat? As the government looks at spending millions of lottery money on sending youngsters on life skills camps, one listener has come up with her own suggestion.

Lis Allen has four daughters, aged from 11 to 18, and when one of them dared to complain yet again about her cooking, she downed tools. For the last six months they've all been on a cooking rota with each family member responsible for cooking one night a week.

Lily Ridett met Lis at the family home in Newbury.
