Mass-Observation 20 September 2004
Since 1937 thousands of volunteers have helped build up a unique record of everyday life in Britain

Mass-Observation started up in 1937 and the anonymous diaries that were sent in have helped build a unique record of everyday life in Britain during World War II and beyond.听

The project continues and Mass-Observation are currently seeking male volunteer writers.听So why do people contribute, and what relevance do the diaries have today?听

We hear from Judith who wrote a diary during and after the Second World War and Jenni talks to Dorothy Sheridan, head of the Mass-Observation archive.
