Toilets have to be cleaned, kitchen floors to be washed and cushions to be plumped - and arguments over who does what have been known to break a relationship

For Rosie Hankin it's the laundry. She has four young children who store their dirty underwear under their beds and a husband who translates every whir of the washing machine into wasted money. At least he notices.

Cathy Barnaby's husband was amazed that their new bathroom was so resilient to dirt - for nearly a year. While Annette Yoosefinejad has a solution for keeping a clean toilet. She only buys her sons 'pay as you go' mobile phone cards if they have cleaned the bathroom every week. She's noticed less misses already!听

Sue Elliott-Nicholls has been finding out from several families, the problems the washing up can cause. But first she heard from Lou Huskisson who likes nothing more than getting her hands in that water...
