Male longevity is increasing faster than women鈥檚

In the last few years, we have been coming to terms with the fact that our population is getting older. But the assumption is that most of the very old in the future will be women听because they usually live longer than men.

But figures from the actuarial profession suggest that the gap between women and men鈥檚 life expectancy is narrowing and that men may catch up.听

Martha discusses what this might mean with Caroline Instance, Chief Executive of the actuarial Profession and听Kate Hunt, medical sociologist with the Medical Research Council.
