The Dick Kerr Ladies, an all woman football team was founded in 1917.听The team听drew crowds in excess of fifty thousand and听became international soccer stars before the women's game was effectively banned by the Football Association in 1921. Fortunately times have changed and听women's football is now听the most popular female sport in England.
