Data Science Research Partnership
大象传媒 Research and Development, along with colleagues from around the 大象传媒, launched a five-year research partnership with eight UK Universities to unlock the potential of data in the media in October 2017. The Data Science Research Partnership aims to be at the forefront of machine learning in the media industry, helping create a more personal 大象传媒 that can inform, educate and entertain in new ways. -
Audio Research Partnership
The Audio Research Partnership launched in 2011 brought together 5 UK universities to build a next generation audio capability for the 大象传媒. By applying the spatial audio research outcomes into a new binaural production system at Cardiff, the 大象传媒 has provided our audio production teams and our audiences an un-rivalled immersive listening experience, using object-based audio. Also significant has been our collaborative work using responsive and interactive content as well as on music navigation. -
UX Research Partnership
The User Experience Research Partnership was launched in July 2013 with 6 university partners. It's mission is to explore the potential of new forms of content and interaction in a multi-platform world, alongside new ways of producing media that will help make content more accessible to all audiences. The research aims to define open standards and support the creative industries in producing engaging content in the future.
Through these long-term partnerships we work with best-of-breed academic experts to develop our 大象传媒 capability in order to deliver compelling experiences for our audiences and drive the industry forward. The impact that this five-year collaborative activity generates is significant in terms of reaching existing audiences in new ways, reaching new audiences, influencing national policy and feeding into international open standards for the benefit of widespread adoption.

Training and Skills Development
Hosting Industrial CASE PhD students and Engineering Doctorate students in our labs is one of our flagship activities. We sponsor students for the entirely of their doctoral training, and for short-term internships.
We provide bright young scientists and engineers with on-the-job training in a corporate R&D facility. and on attachment throughout the 大象传媒 are key to their future success. It is also an effective talent spotting opportunity for us.
Knowledge Sharing and Impact Assessment
We actively contribute to knowledge sharing through secondments of academics into R&D and of R&D staff into academia.
We sit on numerous technology advisory boards and provide expert impact assessor and reviewers to funding bodies and other agencies.
Influence and National Importance
We proactively help to influence and shape the strategic research agendas of key funding bodies, by identifying future challenges and ways of tackling them.
We are strategic partners of UK Research Councils and seek to influence transformational change in areas that will achieve greatest impact on UK plc and our citizens. We contribute to the agendas of industry consortia for technological advance, viable business models, and user/consumer benefit. We work closely with UK Government and their agendas for science, technology and innovation and for the arts and humanities.
