On 26 February 1981, Lanark by was published. Over 25 years in the writing, it has come to be revered by many authors and academics as one of the greatest Scottish novels ever written. This slideshow features Gray talking about the inspiration he drew from Glasgow combined with photography and archive material, including rarely-seen drafts of the book and lithographs of the title page artwork held by the . The Mitchell Library in Glasgow will be hosting an featuring typescripts, proofs and original artwork from both its own and private collections from 5 March until 21 May 2011.
