Over the past decade especially, support for the Scots language has become increasingly mainstream. shows the language is still widely spoken to varying degrees across the whole of Scotland. Its use is promoted by a wide range of individuals, groups and organisations. Supporters agree that one of the most crucial factors in keeping the language thriving is introducing children to it from an early age.
In 2010, the children's book Precious and the Puggies was published exclusively in Scots, following a unique collaboration between its author and fellow writer and translator . The feature includes a slideshow with a reading and illustrations from the book, and interviews with the book's author and translator talking about some of the reasons behind the project. The English version of the book will be released later this year.
