Money
Ten shilling notes
Ten shilling notes.

In the 60s many people did not believe that plans introduced to change money from old pounds, shillings and pence to today鈥檚 decimal currency would happen. But in 1961 the farthing was taken out of circulation.

A farthing was 录 of a penny and there were 240 pennies in a pound. There were 20 shillings in a pound and the old ten shilling note was changed over to a 50 pence piece in 1969. Phew!

A money converter
A money converter showed you how to work out new money.

Although the complete change didn鈥檛 happen until 1971 children in school were given lessons about the new money as new coins emerged throughout the 60s.
