NHS Western Isles

The chief executive of the Western Isles Health Board announced his resignation this morning. This follows the departure of the troubled Board's chairman earlier this month. I agree with statements from local politicians that the CEO was part of the problem at the Health Board, not part of a solution.

The Chief Executive was alleged to be central to allegations of bullying and harassment within the organisation. His departure was welcomed by the MSP, who said that he was pleased to see CEO's expertise would be retained within the NHS as long as it wasn't in the Isles.

With this second departure, the ongoing resolution of problems at the Board has taken another step forward. I am looking forward to the day that this has reached conclusion, and that excellence in patient care will be a headline related to the board, not the managerial malpractices of the recent past.

Good to see the back of this fellow... but it is extremely annoying that we are expected to believe these statements about "resigning due to other commitments " (Currie) and secondment "at his own request" (Manson). Kerr may feel it necessary to take part in the charade of thanking them for their etc etc but we all know it's a lie and they should stop insulting the intelligence of the people of the Western Isles. These people have been kicked out.

Another one down: how many more to go before one can say there is a new (and hopefully improved) administration? Did the MSP really say that he did not care where the fellow went so long as you all saw the back of him? How about mustering a band and seeing him off at the ferry?

There are a few more on my quitlist, MJC - read back through previous entries and you'll know which officials I'm referring to. You'd need a band at the airport and on the double as well. Of course they've been kicked out, See the Dancing Men [forgive me for any mistranslation, chan eil Gaidhlig agam], but someone's got to carry the figleaf.
