Well I am a teeny bit disappointed...I was so sure it would be finished by now...

Oh Holly is so lucky, I would love to cuddle a duck! Hope the weather is kind for your project. What will the roof be like? (just thinking ahead here LOL)

Very nice pic of Holly and duck. # Roof: right, have you ordered the tiles yet? Blocks in the US are generally have a hollow core. Are the building blocks in the UK solid, like yours? How do you finish the outside walls? stucco? Are you wood framing the room? Curious.

Methinks MJC:s curiosity is because he wants to copy said building in S. Indiana. Will you do it yourself, mjc, or duck out and get in a professional?

Lucky Holly, her new pal seems very well behaved indeed. I've never heard of a drake like Sir Quack Alot being so tame.

Wow, mjc has all the questions for you to answer, so I'll just say that it is a lovely photo of your daughter and the duck--how lucky she is on all fronts. Hope the weather is nice for working! Look forward to the next photos!

Oh, I would get a professional to do any building job. Keeps the local economy humming. In my next life I hope to be endowed with a whole slew of practical skills, a new Fred. At the moment I am enjoying Andrew Marr's The Battle for Scotland, and another one on Scotland by Jenny Wormald is on its way. After Scotland, Wales. I know enough about English history: I should venture forth and learn about barbaric lands, don't you all agree?! # Fred, have you tried that bear paw recipe yet? No, Fred, duck feet would not be the same.
mjc from IN, USA
FC, I'm not that fast am I? i never wanted to be too predictable lol. Hi MJC yes in better climates the use cavity blocks, this wall will be layed twice to create a cavity but with the winds here you need solid concrete ones in the south they would use a lighter height breeze blocks....Right the outside I will render 1st then finish with shingle coat, then paint into the same colour as the house, as to the roof not sure if to flat lay or pitch? Carol, Its for a extra bedroom. Carol @IBHQ yes the girls are not that friendly but he has taken to Holly well, likes his cuddles but we did hand rear them. thanks for you comments Jill and T.L.O

Barney take time out, MJC you are correct, the weight saving is considerable while maintaing the structural strenght. It appeares a new design in block construction is reguired in Scotland also how to lay. In Oz we have been using them for 20 years plus.Any thinkers out there.
