Harriet Gillian

Experience the weird and wonderful animations of Harriet Gillian...

Depressed polar bears, little creatures that live in your head and businessmen doing the same jobs day in day out… These characters have all been brought to life by Harriet Gillian.

Growing up with the cartoons of Disney and Aardman, Harriet realised that animation was her first love after being introduced to it at university. This local animator draws her inspiration from lots of different places including the work of artists and designers as well as other animators. She enjoys working in a variety of different styles from traditional hand-drawn animations to ones using digital technology.

Harriet recently graduated from university in Bristol and has shown three of her animations on Shropshire TV. ‘White’ and ‘The Worrit’ were produced with her friend and fellow student, Lea Bellion. She then took on the solo challenge of setting an animation to music.Ìý Using a score arranged by Bob Broadley from the Royal Academy of Music, Harriet created the film 'Scissorbill'.

Harriet plans to continue developing her own ideas and to eventually become a director. She already has an idea in the pipe-line for another animation and hopes to be able to secure funding for it from South-West Screen.
