大象传媒 School Report is all about motivating teenagers to create their own news features about issues affecting them. It encourages kids to step in to the shoes of real journalists and learn all about how to go about it. This year the Corbet School in Baschurch is one of 280 schools taking part across the UK. Pupils in years eight and nine decided to investigate why litter causes such a problem in their schoolyard, and why school buses can sometimes be unreliable - issues at the heart of their school community.
Help playing audio/video Anna in the 大象传媒 Midlands Today studio After planning their ideas in advance they interviewed fellow pupils as well as teachers and council staff. With help from the team at 大象传媒 Radio Shropshire, the group of pupils then went on to edit and even present their own radio and television features- visiting both 大象传媒 Radio Shropshire and 大象传媒 Midlands Today to听put the final touches to their news masterpieces. After all the hard work and graft, children at the Corbet School had some positive thoughts on working in the media. Meg, in year nine, said: "it's really made me want to become a journalist because everyone seems to be having lots of fun whilst producing the news too". In the studio Anna, who's also in year nine, couldn't get over how manic it can be to work in a real life newsroom: "It's really busy and everyone's working to deadlines trying to get things done. They're all tapping away at computers, writing reports, trying to figure out stories. Everybody's just so busy!" last updated: 23/03/2009 at 11:47 SEE ALSOYou are in: Shropshire > School Report > School Report in Shropshire |
