Now a photo sent in by Tony Coates is going to be turned into a truly BIG picture as it appears in Oakengates. A photo sent in by 54-year-old electrician Tony Coates has been chosen to feature on a billboard in Oakengates. Tony's photo of his two-year-old grandson Andrew, playing at Wonderland in Telford, will appear on a huge billboard on the side of the Holyhead Road, Oakengates. The winning photo for Shropshire was chosen by The Big Picture team from thousands of images submitted to the online gallery at www.inthebigpicture.co.uk on Thursday 8 May. The winning entry was to be displayed on a huge billboard in the county in June. Winning photo by Tony Coates Tony describes himself as "simply a doting granddad" and says: "I'm chuffed to have won! The photo was taken on a really good day out at Wonderland with my two grandchildren, and reminds me of a really special day as it was the first weekend that Andrew had started to walk, so he was exploring everywhere." Tony is taking his grandchildren back to Wonderland, and will be driving past the billboard so that Andrew can see his star photo! Tony's photo is called Grandson at Wonderland in Telford and is just one of seven winning photos that will be going up on billboards across the West Midlands. You can see Tony's winning picture on a billboard if you are driving along the Holyhead Road in Oakengates, just before Wesley Drive. Kerry Endsor, Project Manager for The Big Picture, said: "With one month to go we're on the final straight and are urging people to send us their photos throughout June so that they can feature in the largest mosaic in the world: we can promise that the end result will be spectacular!" How can I get involved? You have until Monday 30 June to get your photos in to help the West Midlands claim the record for the largest photo mosaic in the world. Overall 105,000 images are needed to make up the giant mosaic. The current world record for the largest photo mosaic measured 562.85m虏 (6,058.46ft虏) and contained 94,392 individual photographs. It was created in Nurnberg, Germany, on 15 December 2007. It doesn't matter what the subject of your picture is, as long as it is of something or someone that inspires you, from family and friends to your favourite place in Shropshire or even your football team.
