The Hive music and media centre opens its doors on Friday 20 June with a launch event and summer solstice party. Formerly known as Belmont Arts Centre, Radio 1 presenter Greg James unveiled the new name on 24 May and it is hoped the makeover will encourage people to discover what the centre has to offer.
The 大象传媒 is not responsible for the content of external websites Funded by Arts Council England, Shropshire County Council and Youth Music, the Hive is an independent organisation working with young people across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. Following very much in the footsteps of the Belmont Arts Centre, the staff hope 'To inspire young people through music and media'. As well as gigs and other events, the centre offers opportunities to work alongside industry professionals in areas such as digital media, film-making and DJ skills. Radio 1's Greg James opens the centre Director of the Hive Alyson Lanning has a bold vision for the centre, 'to be at the core of creativity for young people both in Shrewsbury and the wider region'. Throughout the year a range of events and projects promise something for all ages, from the under fives, right up to the 13-19 age group. The grand launch on Friday 20 June starts at 3pm with live music, face painting and a chance to look round the centre's facilities. The gallery space will also be open, exhibiting local art.
