Forward thinking Nikhil (Aftab Shivadasani), works for a multinational bank in America. Originally hailing from Delhi, Nikhil is coming home for the first time to visit his family in India.

Aamna (Aamna Sharif) is Nikhil's girlfriend. A mild mannered girl with a modern outlook to life, Aamna truly respects Indian culture and traditions.
Then there is Nikki (Linda), an American who wants to settle down in India. Fascinated by what India has to offer, Linda aims to embrace the Indian way of life with great eagerness.
Hakeem Tarachand (Manoj Pahwa) is a gregarious Punjabi fellow with a great sense of humour. He runs a marital clinic in Lajpat Nagar. With a broad minded outlook towards life, Hakeem has a solution for all problems.
Purshottamji (Kulbushan Kharbanda) is a garage owner in Lajpat Nagar. He is the patriarchal head of the family, whose decision on any family matters, is always binding.
Seeto is your typical Indian housewife who always sticks by her husband, Purshottamji on whatever he says. Highly emotional, she has the potential to transform any household situation into a dramatic saga of grave significance.
Chhadami is Seeto's brother who came into the family at the time of Purshottamji and Seeto's marriage, and is still living with them. Betrayed by an American woman in the past, he now despises Americans.
Last but not the least is Beeji, the grandmother of the house. She is a very spirited individual, who always speaks her mind.

Aloo Chaat is a commercial Bollywood movie with plots within sub-plots. The film is a laugh riot taking you on a hilarious journey of orthodox Delhi parents, to a wider world of love and romance.
Aftab Shivdasani听 who has already starred in many successful comedies including Awara Paagal Deewana (2002), Hungama (2003), Suno Sasurjee (2004) and Money Hai Toh Honey Hai (2008), plays the lead in this romantic comedy.
Well known television actress, Aamna Sharif makes her Bollywood debut in this comic fare. The film releases in selected UK cinemas March 2009.
