There are plenty of people doing something 'Funny for Money' in the county for this year's Comic Relief Day. A team from motor dealer, Furrows of Shrewsbury, is pulling a small car all round the town. They will be collecting donations on the way.

Shaun Turner runs an electrical contracting company and he's doing small jobs, such as putting in light sockets or switches, free of charge. Customers are expected to make a donation in return for his services. He can be contacted on 01588 672093 or 07956 563430.

Staff at the Battlefield 1403 farm shop and cafe near Shrewsbury are putting a butcher in the stocks for the day. For 拢1 you can throw a sponge at him and then enjoy a Red Nose biscuit from the cafe kitchen for 拢1.50.

Still on the subject of food; the Column Restaurant at Shire Hall in Shrewsbury is serving up a Red Nose themed menu on Friday 13 March.

听Every dish has some red ingredients from the roasted red pepper and tomato soup to the Red Nose Bakewell tart. If that is not enough red there are also special cherry scones and savoury cheese scones with cherry tomato noses.

Girls at Moreton Hall school near Oswestry are paying their teachers to serve them breakfast in bed. For just 拢1 they can choose from bacon or sausage in a bun, pain au chocolat, juice and tea and coffee.

Staff at the Bear Hotel at Hodnet have stretched Red Nose Day into a week. They have been wearing funny things for money all week.

One of the chefs is hosting a pub quiz on Thursday sporting a red mohican hair style. The bar man will be dressed as Batman.

On Comic Relief Day itself Strawberry Fool and Raspberry Idiot will be served in the restaurant with 拢1 from the price of each serving adding to the total.

Allison Christie from the hotel said they hoped to raise at least 拢200 from their events.
