Shrewsbury's 拢28m new Theatre Severn will be officially opened by Prince Edward on 25 March. Children's show Romany Wood will be performed as part of the opening celebrations, featuring over 400 local youngsters.听

Romany Wood will be aired 8-9pm on Wednesday 25 March on 大象传媒 Radio Shropshire.

The show has been written by David Carr and David Gaukroger, based on a book by Shrosphire-based Romany Gypsy Beshlie.

As well as children from across the county, the production will also star acclaimed actor Timothy West as the narrator. Shrewsbury's own Melanie Nakhla, a member of the classical girl group All Angels, will also be singing.

Artistic Director Maggie Love has the task of bringing together the huge cast for Romany Wood, alongside Director Desmond Kelly, Choral Director Lorna Crosse, Choreographer Kit Holder (from Birmingham Royal Ballet) and Conductors John Fairbanks and Bill Wysome. Musical accompaniment is provided by the Shropshire Youth Orchestra.

Romany Wood is separated into two sections: The 40-minute concert will be followed by a specially commissioned ballet, featuring members of the Elmhurst School of Dance, with choreography also based on the Romany Wood book.

Romany Wood will be performed in the main auditorium of Theatre Severn 25-26 March.
