Parag Dixit is a very lucky guy. He has it all – a dream job and a beautiful girlfriend by the name of Maansi.
However, his life takes an ugly turn during a series of unfortunate events. This results in him waking up in jail, handcuffed and badly beaten up.
Totally confused by his life’s sudden downturn, Parag tries hard to face the ugly truth. He wished it was a bad dream but soon succumbs to the prison anarchy.
He finds salvation in Nawab, a convict and a warden who believes that Parag is innocent.
It’s not long before Parag discovers the inner mechanism responsible for the wretched status of the inside prison life.
He comes across hordes of broken hearts and shattered souls who now managed to find comfort amidst the four prison walls.
He is left with a choice - to either live a life that’s controlled and exploited or fight against the system!
Jail has been directed by renowned filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar who has a tendency to work outside Bollywood norms and even succeed in doing so!
His recent release, Fashion not only won the hearts of audiences across the globe but also scooped many awards in various categories.
So judging by Bhandarkar’s past works, we can certainly look forward to another thought provoking story in his film, Jail.
The movie stars Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead role. His recent work in Yash Raj’s release, New York, has been greatly appreciated by critics.Ìý
The movie which dealt with the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks proved Neil’s versatility as an actor.
Audiences can now see him in the movie, Jail where he goes full monty in one of prison scenes.
It all depends on the film censors whether the scene will be chopped or kept prior to the film’s release.
Come what may, Jail is worth a watch for it’s realistic portrayal of the miserable living conditions and survival of the fittest in India’s jails.
