Sidharth Mehra (Ranbir Kapoor) is a lazy, unmotivated slacker from Mumbai. His life undergoes a series of changes after taking his final year college exams.
Sid's world is breezy, carefree and without any true responsibilities. The most important elements in his life are his friends, his camera, his car, and his X-box 360.
The unlikely couple
This young lad thrives around his two best friends, Rishi (Namit Das) and Laxmi (Shikha Talsania).
At home, he very rarely communicates with his mother, Sarita (Supriya Pathak) and takes his father鈥檚 hard earned wealth for granted. Despite all these traits, Sid is an honest, sweet boy.
Aisha Bannerjee (Konkona Sen Sharma) is an aspiring writer from Calcutta. Ambitious, well-read and motivated, Aisha has come to Bombay to realise her dreams as a writer.
Her path crosses with Sid's on her first day in Bombay. Despite their contrasting personalities, Sid becomes Aisha's first friend in the city.
Aisha settles to Bombay life with the help of Sid and his gang. Meanwhile, Sid whiles away his life over long drives, parties stretching well into dawn with endless hours doing absolutely nothing.
Soon, a series of circumstances and events compel Sid to take stock of his life and take a hard look at himself. Will he, at some point figure out what he's supposed to be doing with his life?
The movie sees teenage heartthrob, Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role after his last film, Bachna Ae Haseeno.
Wake Up Sid marks the directorial debut of Ayan Mukerji who assisted Karan Johar with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Ashutosh Gowariker in Swades.
The musical score has been composed by trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy who are known for their melodious soundtracks in films like Kal Ho Naa Ho and Taare Zameen Par.
The film is expected to go down well with today鈥檚 young generation reflecting their lifestyles.
It also deals with the parents'听dilemmas with their children in terms of education, career prospects and being able to stand on their own two feet.
