Abhishek Bachchan is Amol Arte, a politician who is seen dressed up in white kurta-pyjamas throughout the film. Amol is a young progressive politician who follows in the footsteps of his father – a character played by veteran star, Paresh Rawal.
Bollywood superstar, Amitabh Bachchan plays Auro, a 12-year-old character in this drama. Auro is Amol’s son.
Bachchan senior did research into child behaviour to get under the skin of his character. Special makeup artistes from the West have been employed to give Bachchan senior the child’s look.
In this movie, he plays the role of a child suffering from progeria -Ìý a rare disease which causes premature ageing among children.
Paa has been directed by R. Balakrishnan who earlier made the unusual love story, Cheeni Kum. Balakrishnan’s love for England has made him shoot Paa on various Cambridgeshire locations.
The female lead in the movie is played by Vidya Balan. She plays Amitabh Bachchan’s mother.
Paa is an unconventional drama> The plot appears to be similar to the Hollywood flick, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.
