Let me introduce you to our cons 聳 they are Joe (Bruce Willis),
the chilled out opportunist who always wears a smile, and then theres
Terry
(Billy Bob thornton) the wisecracking hypochondriac with "Sanitation
Issues".
We meet them just as they are to break out of prison using nothing
more than a cement lorry, and a huge dollop of luck. once they are
free from the confines of the clink our heroes begin to dream of a
new life, but the question is how to finance it? Why by robbing banks
of course! But these are no ordinary bank robbers!
These boys visit the bank managers at night, hold them and their families
hostage and then get the big boss to give them access to the vaults
in the morning hence their media moniker 聳 "The Sleepover
Bandits"
All
is going well untill the arrival of Kate (Cate Blanchett), a neurotic
housewife who quite literally runs into terry one day. And this
is where the boys begin to come unstuck as they both fall for the
flame haired mistress.
I went
into the cinema thinking this would be at best an average buddy
flick with one or two gags 聳 and I have to say I was pleasantly
surprised.
The three leads were all excellent in their roles. Bruce Willis
pulled off his usual high standard as the macho half of the duo
but particular praise has to go to Billy Bob Thornton. he provides
the best of the comedy moments with some great oneliners without
infringeing on the rest of the cast. The story kept your interest
聳 there were definitely no watch checking moments for me! And
the twist at the end was well worth waiting for.
Bandits probably wont make it into the top 10 movies of the year,
but if you fancy an entertaining night out with a bit of action
and a few laughs thrown in, give this one a go.
