Yep
you guessed it! It's yet another version of Charles Dickens聮
"A Christmas Carol". This time it's animated and has some
major talents to provide the voices including Simon Callow (Scrooge)
Nicholas cage (Jacob Marley) and Kate Winslet (Belle).
The story is based on the transformation of Ebeneezer Scrooge from
miserable miser to kindhearted citizen after encouragement from the
spirit world. This particular version is told through the eyes of
mice who pop up throughout the film and in the live action sequences
at the beginning and end.
Rather
than reviewing this one from an adult point of view we asked Lauren
Uzzell, aged 11, from Apley Wood School to do it for us...
"I thought the film was all right, in places it was boring
and I got tired of waiting for the story to end. I liked the live
action bits at the beginning and end and it was a nice way to start
and finish the story. The worst bit of the film was when all the
ghosts came and it went on far too long and was scary in places.
The best bit was at the end when scrooge became a nice person and
was helping other people. Bob Cratchit was my favorite character.
The way
it was drawn wasn聮t very good and it looked like something that
you聮d see on the TV. When the characters were talking their lips
weren聮t moving in time and when they walked they didn聮t
move like real people. I liked the piece of music at the end where
Belle was singing (Kate Winslet聮s "What If"). I couldn聮t
follow the story very well, and it didn聮t explain very well what
was going on.
I聮d like to change some bits but if you like Christmas films
you might like it otherwise wait for it to come on the TV."
