Southern England from the South West of France; isn't it exciting Radio Solent
being linked to the Internet? my husband, Don, and I, can't wait to catch up with
our favourite presenters.
So what is living the dream really like? well,
for a start no more crawling along the M27 car park every morning, instead a gentle
cruise on the quiet winding roads following the Dordogne River, where I drive
the 8 kilometres to our English shop in Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne.
Our Department
of Correze is becoming increasingly popular with the British, who are forsaking
the nearby, more expensive Dordogne'shire' Department, and seeking out the few
property bargains left here, either to live permanently or for holiday homes.
We are so lucky to have the opportunity to live in an area where the pace of life
is slow, lunch lasts two hours and the French are polite and charming, unless
they are behind the wheel of their car, or tractor!
One of the downsides?
well, no visit to B and Q on Sunday or a cuppa in a garden centre afterwards!
'A Place in the Sun' was filming here a few weeks ago and Amanda Lamb was very
glowing in her praise of our ancient town. Did the house hunters buy anything?
well, you will have to wait until the programme is aired in early 2005 to find
out!
