Has radio sheffield taking on young ones to help with anything in the radio station? Radio sheffield is the best station to listen to, esp on sunday mornings for the gardening show and also through the week. You have all the travel and news and to hear things through out sheffield.

In the 80's I had the privilege of presenting the morning Police programme on Radio Sheffield then at Westbourne Road. I regarded it as a privilege as I had been given an opportunity to reach out to the people of Sheffield with Police items of interest to the community and at the same time rubbing shoulders with stars of the station such as Michael Cooke (so smart and professional)Tony Capstick(what a character and very professional)Winton Cooper(a really nice chap and popular presenter)Robert Jackson (Sports favourite and a gentleman)Everard Davey (great voice,he had hair then)and last but not least that lovely lady Dinah Maiden.I remember on one occasion Dinah getting me out of trouble when live on the radio I forgot my lines.I consider the broadcasts as one of the highlights of my career.Sadly Michael Cooke and Tony Capstick are no longer with us;what a loss to broadcasting..

I was one of the many visitors to Ashdell Grove in 1992 - back then, of course, the lineup included Tony Capstick, Rony Robinson of course and Winton Cooper, into whose show a few of us walked. No stranger to the 大象传媒 since - been to a few live shows in Birmingham and been a studio guest twice in Ipswich, but still listen to Radio Sheffield occasionally even now.

I enjoy your output but I have one question?? I often went into Radio sheff in the old days ie: Westbourne Rd. but having a look over the pics I havnt seen Mavis Carter photo A young Scots lass who was mainly on of a Saturday morning

I just cannot fault your work. You are a breth of freshair every time I HAVE YOUR COMPANY. I have 4 radios in my bungalow and 1 hsve my car radio tuned in to Radio SHEFFIELD. I will always concider one unsung errow s that can be there just when you need a good friendly voice that has people with their fingers on the pulse for South Yorkshire people. May the powers that be never think of cutting back on your funding. GOD BLESS YOU ALL FOR ANOTHER MANY YEARS TO COME. I am an old aged pensioner, so are many more of your public. A belated but no less sincere congratulations to Radio Sheffield on its 40th birthday. My favourite presenters are Rony Robinsonand the sadly missed Tony Capstick. His chats with MelJones were fantastic. Fortunately I have some tapes I made of some of Tony's Travels and its great and yes moving to hear his voice again with his "Lerve in the Afternoon"

i remember my aunt helen gave us a radio that could receive vhf just after the station came on air in 67.it was like the space age being able to tune in as no one else on our street could pick it up.as i could listen on vhf the sound quality was vastly superior to medium wave.now with the internet i can listen anywhere, but i will treasure those early days of tuning in to radio sheffield in my bedroom as a teenager.among my favourite presenters over the years,the ones that stand out are micheal cook,tony capstick and rony, also the sports team, who seem to live and breathe in support of their particular local team.my love for the radio is stronger than ever these days,i listen to loads of stations now on the internet.

I'm very disappointed that there are no pictures of Sports Presenter Simon Clark. Is the picture of Bob Jackson the Robert Jackson who used to play marches ot encourage our local teams to score? If memory serves, it nearly always worked. Can some do that now, perhaps?

Radio Sheffield is a wondeful Sheffield institution. I'm 46, and have lived in the city all my life, so its always been around for me. Bob Jackson was a big favourite with P&G and the military music to 'spur the team on'. I used to be on a bit in the mid to late 1990s when I produced the Wednesday fanzine War of the Monster Trucks. This was mainly on Kate L's show - she has a really good knowledge of football and understood the fanzine's humour well. I also associate Radio Sheffield with the weather. Listening in as a youngster to see if school was cancelled in the snow and much later in the recent floods when we had no power for three days and were kept connected with 'the outside' by the radio! Great stuff - keep it up.

I remember Stephanie Hazeldene! I was one of the people featured in her programme about illegal Badger digging (as a Badger conservationist of course)and can remember taking Steph to see Badgers in the wild. I wonder if Stephanie still has the scar on her leg from the nasty cut from the thorn bushes!!!! What a lovely lady, I am so sorry to hear she's had cancer. I wish her all the best.

I remember listening to Dinah, she was brilliant. I also liked Cookie, he could get people wound up but Cappo was my favourite his humour was wonderful it is so sad that he is nolonger with us. Happy Days

Does anyone remember the rivalry between the Radio Sheffield and Radio Hallam in the 1970s and 1980s. Roger Moffat got the sack from Hallam and got a job a Radio Sheffield but left and went back to Hallam. I still have some merchandise from the early 1980s Radio Sheffield - Keyring, Photo's and a Diary.

Thanks for the memories,the pics are great,i grew up listening to Radio Sheffield it was always on in my parents house,Back in 1972 i was part of the childrens programm "Hot Pot" with Janie Griffiths and Malcolm Brammer and Pam Wait Then when i got a little older i went to norfolk st for Down Town saturday with Michael Cook and Ray Stewart. As long as I can remember I have had an interest in radio and music. My father said it was because he put a transistor radio in my pram to keep me entertained. I remember the first record I ever heard (on my Parents old radiogram) it was 鈥淭hese boots are made for walking鈥� by Nancy Sinatra. I got hooked on radio at a very early age and got involved in a children鈥檚 pop program on 大象传媒 radio Sheffield back in 1972 called 鈥淗ot Pot鈥� when I was only 7. Can you help by telling me what happened to Winton Cooper and lee Hutchinson.Thanks for a great 40 yrs.
